The PURPOSE of Speak It Forward…

The primary purpose of what I offer through the SPEAK IT FORWARD website is to empower speakers to be successful and profitable in the speaking business!

Let me be “gut-level” direct with you for a moment.  There are tons of websites and programs available today that share information about how to craft and deliver a better message.   Some of these resources are good.  Others are, well…not so good. 

But honesty, if you want to make it as a speaker, enhancing your preparation and presentation skills is about 20% of the battle.  Don’t get me wrong, you need to develop outstanding content and deliver it with excellence if you expected to succeed in the “speaking world.”  But the truth is, there are a ton of great communicators who are currently doing something other than speaking for a paycheck. 

And therein is why enhancing your preparation and presentation skills is about 20% of the battle.  You can be the greatest speaker in the universe, but if you don’t know how to get booked, you’ll end up doing something else for a paycheck.

The RESULTS of Speak It Forward…

That’s why this website is all about empowering you to get booked as a speaker!  What this means to you is this:  if knowing HOW to get booked is 80% of the battle, that’s the result I want to help you achieve!

Bottom line:  real success and real profit for speakers doesn’t just start with your message; it also requires showcasing, packaging, marketing, nurturing key relationships…or, in other words, KNOWING HOW TO GET BOOKED! 

The Speak It Forward JOURNEY…

Starting the Speak It Forward website grew out of my story.   After more than 10 years of being a good speaker who only spoke a handful of times each year, I began a quest to learn the secrets of how to get booked as a speaker.  I read, went to conferences and boot camps, listened to audios, attended tele-seminars, received personal coaching, bought lunches for speakers who were getting booked so that I could pick their brains, and much more. 

For two years, I learned all I could about getting booked as a speaker. (FYI, as a side note, one Success Principle I practice is kaizen, a Japanese word that means “constant and never-ending improvement.”  This means I am still pursuing knowledge and growth in my understanding of what it takes to get booked).  The more I learned, the more I developed my own Speak It Forward System of Strategies. 

Today, just a few years later, my speaking and coaching schedule is PACKED.  In fact, instead of having only a handful of opportunities each year, I have so many that I get to pick and choose which ones I take.

ARE YOU CATCHING THE MESSAGE?

I have always been what I call a “below the radar” speaker.  In other words, I’m an average guy with no royal pedigree, dramatic life story, or national recognition, but I’ve always been a strong speaker with a great message to share.  I’m still a “below the radar” speaker; however, unlike in years past, I’m now a “below the radar” speaker who is experiencing real success and profit because I know how to get booked!  That’s the power of the Speak It Forward Strategies!!

Interestingly, at practically every one of my presentations, people who want to get into the speaking business pull me aside to “pick my brain.”  After dozens, if not hundreds, of such conversations, I caught the message:

There are a lot of talent speakers who are struggling just like I used to struggle.

I am a dyed-in-the-wool, pragmatic, bottom-line sort of guy…always have been.  I’m also an inspirer who has a HUGE heart for people and believe in their potential—especially speakers!  Again, I’ve always been this way.  So this inspirational, practical, nuts-and-bolts personality is just how I’m wired.
